HEALTH and WELL BEING
Improving the quality of health among African American women is an integral part of our focus on the quality of life in our community. To promote a healthier lifestyle among African American Women in the Atlanta Community, The BWCA has partnered with the AHA to participate in their Annual Women 2 Woman Health Conference. The conference features free health screenings, workshops, a vendor expo and a formal luncheon. BWCA also actively participates in the annual Sickle Cell Walk/Run fundraiser in Southwest Atlanta.

LITA MCCLINTON BOOK SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The recipients of The BWCA Lita McClinton Book Scholarship are selected on the basis of their academic merit, need, and commitment to community service. The scholarship was established in memory of the late Lita McClinton, a former BWCA Member and the daughter of founding member, JoAnn McClinton and Emory McClinton, Sr. Scholarship recipients are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities to interface with BWCA members and to participate in various projects. The Scholarship Committee’s focus for the coming year will be to provide opportunities for our recipients to gain experience in sharing their talents and knowledge with younger students. We will also seek to help develop the professional etiquette that should be ever-present in all of their endeavors.

THE RIGHT TO VOTE WAS HARD WON, AND SHALL REMAIN FOREVER PRECIOUS.

The BWCA seeks opportunities to enlighten and engage citizens in our community in the democratic process. During the election season of 2004, The BWCA was featured a “Get Out The Vote” Campaign that was broadcast on several regional television channels. Ongoing, The BWCA will host political forums, that will provide an opportunity for citizens to meet political candidates and become better informed on issues that effect the quality of life in our community.
